The German regulatory stack

FernUSG & ZFU (Staatliche Zentralstelle für Fernunterricht) — structured distance-learning courses leading to a Prüfung require ZFU approval. GeraLearn offers open, modular continuing education outside this scope, which is an intentional product choice.
Weiterbildungsgesetze der Länder — Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) rules vary by Bundesland. We publish which of our courses are typically recognised in Berlin, NRW, Hamburg and Bayern as Bildungsurlaub.
DSGVO / BDSG — learner data is processed EU-resident and lawful bases are documented per Verarbeitung. Minors under 16 require parental consent (DSGVO Art. 8 as implemented in Germany).
§3 Nr. 19 EStG — up to €600/year of employer-paid professional development is tax-free. We issue compliant German-language invoices (Rechnung with MwSt.).
AVGS / Bildungsgutschein (SGB III) — AZAV-zertifizierte Träger are a separate regulated path. GeraLearn partners with AZAV-certified providers rather than claiming certification ourselves.
UWG & BGB-Widerrufsrecht — 14-day consumer revocation is honoured on all direct course purchases.

Payment rails for Germany

SEPA Lastschrift and PayPal are the default for monthly subscribers; Klarna (Rechnung, Ratenzahlung) is offered on B2B seats and larger Einzelkäufe. Visa/Mastercard are supported but card acceptance in Germany is still materially lower than in the UK or US.
